Harry Hut
Harry is a front row luxury beach hut sat directly on the sand on Mersea Island’s West Mersea Beach, a dog friendly sand and shingle beach perfect for exploring rock pools and collecting shells. Mersea Island is a well-kept secret off the Essex coast with beautiful and largely untouched coastal scenery. It is world renowned for its oysters and crab. There are several outstanding seafood restaurants on the island. The Company Shed and Duke’s Seafood are highly recommended.

Are we nearly there yet?
Harry is beach hut no. 218 on the front row of West Mersea Beach and directly in front of the Victoria Esplanade car park. From Victoria Esplanade, go past the children’s play park, walk down the steps past The Two Sugars Cafe https://www.facebook.com/Two-Sugars-Cafe-2316029721753816/ and turn left. Follow the ascending hut numbers until you get to 218.
Parking
Parking is in Victoria Esplanade Car Park directly behind Victoria Esplanade. The postcode for the car park is CO5 8BX. Parking is £6 a day and payable in cash or via the MiPermit app.
Amenities
A short walk from the hut, The Two Sugars café offers teas, coffees, ice creams and fish and chips. There is a children’s park next to the café. Seaview café is a short walk in the opposite direction.
The toilets are opposite the Two Sugars café. They are open until 8pm. A new disabled toilet can be found at the entrance to Victoria esplanade car park and is accessed via a radar key.
Tide Times
Mersea Island is temporarily cut off from the mainland when The Strood, the causeway linking the island to the mainland floods at high tide on a few days per month. If high tide is 4.77 m or above you will need to bear in mind that the island will be cut off for an hour or so either side of high tide. Maximum Occupancy
For the benefit of other beach hut users and also due to license conditions no more than 8 people can use the beach hut at any one time. This includes the decking and the beach area in front of the hut. Maximum of 2 well behaved dogs and there is a water bowl provided.
What You Will Find
The beach hut has two zero gravity loungers, 6 camp style chairs (suitable to 26 stone), 2 kids chairs, a sun bed, a table, parasol, windbreaks, kettle, stove, mugs, cups, picnic wine cups, plates, bowls, cutlery, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, Cup-A-Soup, sugar, ketchup, vinegar, salt and milk sachets. You will also find some biscuits to enjoy with a cup of tea when you arrive. There are beach toys to use in the back box and body boards under the sofa area. Harry has a very handy stable door. If you shut the bottom but leave the top open, hey presto, you can use it as a child gate!
What You Need
We suggest taking your own water for the kettle and washing up, but there are taps next to the pay machine for the car park and the children’s play area. Do not forget your towels and suncream!
