Hermione Hut

Hermione is a luxury front row beach hut on Walton-on-the-Naze’s Southcliff beach, perfectly positioned for all the amenities of the town and pier. Southcliff beach is a gem of the Essex coastline, with golden, gently sloping sands and plenty of shallow pools for paddling little ones. Your furry friends can enjoy a paddle too as the beach is dog friendly all year round.

Hermione hut was given a makeover for Series 2 of BBC’s Interior Design Masters by designer Lynsey Ford who went on to win the series! Hermione is chock-full of nifty ideas from the fold down table with hidden shelves and wall of hooks for drying soggy cossies, to the now famous mirror tiled back wall, which enables you to gaze out to sea even when using the kitchenette.

Hermione is beach hut 19A on the front row of Southcliff beach close to the pier and pier toilets.

Parking

We recommend parking at Station Yard Car Park. The postcode is CO14 8EL. Parking is £6 a day and payable in cash or via the MiPermit app.

Amenities

Hermione hut is very close to May’s Café and the Beach Hut Kiosk (please note they are cash only). Hermione hut is also close to all the amenities that the town and pier have to offer. The pier, which stretches 3/4 into the sea, is a perfect place for sea fishing and as its dog friendly. It offers an arcade with all the old classics as well as the latest must have games and an indoor funfair, perfect for when a sudden rain shower hits.

The toilets are opposite the pier or further along the row of beach huts near hut 132.

Maximum Occupancy

For the benefit of other beach hut users and also due to license conditions no more than 8 people can be using the hut at any one time. This includes the promenade area in front of the hut. We welcome a maximum of 2 well behaved dogs and there is a water bowl provided.

What You Will Find

The beach hut has 8 camp style chairs (suitable to 26 stone), 2 children’s chairs, tables, parasol, windbreak, kettle, stove, mugs, cups, picnic wine cups, plates, bowls, cutlery, tea, coffee, sugar, ketchup, vinegar, salt etc. There are beach toys and a handy child gate to the front to keep little ones and furry friends from escaping.

What You Need

We would suggest taking your own water for kettle and washing up, but tap can be found next to the steps on the next level. Do not forget your towels and sun cream!
